This year's AMA Motocross Banquet & Season Celebration was held in a magnificent banquet room at the Pala Resort & Casino. The room was decorated beautifully, lined with motocross dcor, as well as a stage decorated with the championship bikes and awards. The line-up of food, appetizers, desserts, and beverages was very elegant and delicious.
After dinner, the awards ceremony began. Jason Weigandt, along with Tim Cotter hosted the show. And of course Jason started it just like he does many of his shows - after slamming down an energy drink.
Jason went on to talk about each round of this summer's AMA Motocross Nationals, with a list of funny jokes pertaining to all the good and bad situations at each of the races. After that, the awards and trophies were handed out.
The night was filled with special memories, good times, and laughs. One poignant moment was when Kevin Windham accepted the award for 'Sportsperson of the Year'. Kevin always has a great way of expressing himself, but made a great comment towards his friend & the team manager, Mike LaRocco. He commented on Mike's motivation, that pushed Kevin to work hard and do his best ... it was touching, but at the same time very funny.

I have raced at the Bercy Supercross. In 1984, we actually raced it twice. The first race was right after the Daytona Supercross in March, and then we raced again at Bercy in December.
The very first year was cool. But the track was an unknown. When we (the top American Supercross racers) got there, we realized they (the organizers) didn't know fully how to put on a supercross. The track was so narrow, it was hard to pass, it was a 'European' supercross.
But also that first year, I realized how awesome a 'show' can be. Their show was awesome in Bercy! All of us were surprised at how great it was!
My very first thought though, the first time I got to Bercy: "Wow, this is a small track!" But I raced there again in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1989. I've also gone another time after I retired from professional supercross and motocross racing.

Team USA has won the 2011 Motocross of Nations here in St. Jean d'Angely, France. With the win in this 65th edition of the MX of Nations, Team USA riders Ryan Dungey, Blake Baggett, and Ryan Villopoto, along with team manger Roger De Coster, take home the coveted Chamberlain Trophy.
Team France finished second, with team members Christophe Pourcel, Marvin Musquin, and Gautier Paulin. Australia finished third with Reed, Metcalfe and Moss.
The French fans turned out in huge numbers, and were very enthusiastic for their riders. The track was very difficult, with lots of steep climbs and lots of stones underneath the top soil. Combine the stones with some rain at times, which made the track slick, many riders had vision and goggle problems during the day.
Champagne time for USA, France, and Australia at the 2011 Motocross of Nations in France!

When Vicki Golden turned pro in 2009, she went into the season open minded; she just wanted to see how she'd do in the Pros. It worked out pretty well for Vicki as she consistently finished in the top 4 in the first 5 rounds of the 2009 WMX season. After a season ending injury to Trey Canard, Geico Honda gave Vicki an opportunity to ride Trey's bike the remainder of the season of the Women's Motocross Series. It was a great experience as she finished 4th in Colorado, but her season ended prematurely as she injured herself in a practice session at Perris Raceway before the 6th round in Washougal.
In 2010 Vicki came back healthy and was picked up by Moto Concepts Yamaha. She wasn?t as consistent as she expected, but she did finish the season 4th overall points, with a 3rd place finish at the Pala Raceway National. In 2011 she will be running the #4 plate in the AMA Women's Motocross Series.

The 2011 Supercross champion and newly crowned AMA MX champion Ryan Villopoto, will race in the inaugural Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas? Sam Boyd Stadium on October 15.
With three AMA Motocross Lites class championships and a Western Regional Supercross Lites class championship to his name, Villopoto added the sport?s most prestigious honor to his resume earlier this year when he captured the Supercross class title. En route to the championship, Villopoto earned five wins and six additional podium finishes. He backed that up last weekend by winning the 450cc class championship in AMA Motocross.
Jessica Patterson is the 2010 AMA Women's National Motocross Champion. Here is Supercross.com's latest interview with JP$.
Jessica, congratulations on your 2010 AMA Women's National MX Championship. You walked away with some amazing trophies from this summer's race wins .... where do you put all those great awards, and what does it mean to you when you see them?
Thanks Annj. I usually go straight to my parents house and drop them all off and let my mom decorate the house with them. But recently she told me that I have started to bring home too many, and to figure out where to put them at my place because her place is now full.
Her suggestion to me was to rent a storage unit if I didn?t want to keep them all over the house. They are all just hanging out at her house right now, and eventually when I decide where I want to move, then I will take them with me and start the decorating.
To see the trophies is pretty cool. It is what I have been working so hard for, and after struggling for for two years and now coming back and winning the championship in 2010, it makes it that much better. Seeing that I have all those number 1 trophies from each race except for two, it reminds me of how good of a year it really was, so it makes me really happy and makes me want to keep pushing.

When Steffi Laier, Red Bull Teka KTM factory rider and two-time Women's MX World Champion takes to the track in the pre-season MX races in Valence, France, this weekend it will be her first competitive ride for 2011. Steffi has been training hard on the bike since mid December and in Valence tests herself against a field of male riders.
At the French pre-season special, she faces off with a strong lineup of riders including those from the Nestaan JM Racing KTM squad led by Joel Roelants, Yentel Martens and young talents like 125 European champion Jordi Tixier of France and Austrian Pascal Rauchenecker. Also in the field are other KTM riders like British rider Nathan Parker (PROPPA-COM KTM and French riders Loïc Leonce (B G R KTM) and Loïc Larrieu (WOLFF KTM). But these and other top riders hold no fear for Steffi who his very well known for her toughness, skill and courage when attacking any MX track.

Saturday's Qualifying at the 2011 MX of Nations in France. The Motocross of Nations at St. Jean d'Angely, France is the most prestigious MX race of the year. In today's Qualifying Races it was the Americans: Ryan Dungey (MX1 class), Blake Bagget (MX2 class), and Ryan Villopoto (Open class) all led every lap of their respective motos. USA dominated in an almost unbelievable fashion, thus scoring 2 points for the day.
The Italian team surprised everyone with a second best overall for the day and scoring 4 points. Italy's Antonio Cairoli gave Ryan Dungey everything he could handle in the MX1 qualifier, finishing 2nd on the day behind Team USA's captain. The host country's Team France, finished third overall for the day, with Chrisophe Pourcel finishing 3rd in MX1, Marvin Musquin 2nd in MX2 and Gautier Paulin 3rd in the Open class. They received 6 points on the day. France is one of the favorites to end USA's reign as MXoN Champions.
Each member of Team USA gets the Lovemytime Holeshot Award for winning their respective motos
Roger De Coster said, "We have two riders with experience, and we expected to be on top. I was impressed with Antonio Cairoli, he put some pressure on Dungey, and rode great in some sections of the track. What this guy (Blake) did is amazing. It's difficult to come race the first time in Europe. The French team rode good today, and the Italians were even better than I expected. Of course Cairoli will do well, but I was very impressed with the other Italian riders. Remember though, today is only Qualifying. Tomorrow is what counts. We should not be over-confident"

Beginning last season, MX Sports Pro Racing implemented a new numbering system for the Women's AMA National Motocross championship. In years past, riders selected their numbers based on availability and order of selection was determined by where a rider finished in the standings the previous season. While the champion was designated to wear the number one plate, all other competitors were permitted to select any number that was available.
The 2010 campaign marked the debut of a new numbering system that determines a rider's number by where she finished the previous season. As a result, one's finishing position in the championship would serve as her number for the following season.
While Women's MX Champion Jessica Patterson will enter 2011 with the #1 plate on her bike, jersey and helmet, below is a list of the remaining numbers for next season's MotorcycleUSA Women's Motocross Championship in accordance to each woman's position in the final standings for 2010:

This year's event is at the excellent, hilly, beautiful, raukus GP track in St. Jean d'Angely, France. And it's expected to be one heck of a race!
Team USA is the defending champion, and ready to try and repeat for the sixth year in a row. Led by Team Manager Roger De Coster, the riders are Ryan Dungey - 2010 AMA Supercross Series and Motocross Series Champion, Ryan Villopoto - the recently crowned AMA Motocross Class Champion and the 2011 AMA Supercross Series Champion, and Blake Baggett - riding the MX2 class in his first taste of "Nations".

More to come, stay tuned.
It's called Steel City. It's in Delmont, Pennsylvania. And it's going to host the second to last round of the 2011 AMA National Motocross Championship Series - round 11.
Two names are standing out, as they are going to battle for the premiere Motocross class championship, most likely until the final moto next weekend at Pala Raceway MX in California. Who knows how fierce the competition will be between those two names - Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey? They are separated by only eight points, with four 'motos' left to go.
Right after the race in Pala, they will head to France to compete as teammates, along with Blake Baggett and Team Manager Roger De Coster, as Team USA at the Motocross of Nations in St. Jean d'Angely, France, September 17 and 18. (Watch that entire weekend's event online here.)
Ryan Villopoto is currently leading the AMA National Motocross series in the " MX " class. Ryan Villopoto has won two regional Supercross titles, three AMA National Motocross Championships in the 250 MX Lites class, and recently won the 2011 AMA Supercross Series Championship.
Ryan Dungey is the defending (2010) AMA Motocross Champion. Ryan won the 2010 AMA Supercross Series Championship. Ryan won the 2009 AMA West Region Supercross title, and was the 2009 AMA National Motocross Champion in the 250 MX Lites class.
This should be an epic battle.
Saturday - Round 11 in Pennsylvania. Next Saturday, finale Round 12 in California. The following weekend, teammates in France for the prestigious MX of Nations.
Let's review last weekend's race in Southwick, Massachusetts to get you all caught up for Delmont. And we have three articles for your review. I was very impressed with the layout of the entire facility - the pits, the press, the track ... the entire presentation.
Everyone from Glen Helen Raceway - Dr. Bud Feldkamp (track owner) to Lori (track manager), their staff including Carl, Steve, Bob did a great job in representing the United States and California in having one of the greatest motocross tracks in America.
I sat with Dr. Wolfgang Srb, President of the FIM Motocross Commission, and he was very impressed with the preparation of everything as well, including the track, especially with the fact that the event was put on with 60 days notice. He thought everything was top notch, and is excited to have the event come back next year.
